The Best Time of the Year?

I always think that Christmas is my favorite time of year. I mean, what's not to love? The anticipation of time to be spent with friends and family, holiday decorations and the best part of all--Christmas music played 24-7 on the radio stations. As a "grown up" I think I also am partial to this time, as it is my least busy at work and I am able to take some of my saved up vacation days. Reflecting on the past few days though, I am starting to rethink my feelings, as I really love that time of year when the sun is shining and it's warm (but not hot) and everything just feels nice. Those who are in the bay area will likely agree that we had some pretty amazing weather over the past three days. It was so nice to be outside and compounding this with a 3 day weekend (for me at least), I was a pretty happy kid. Did anyone else notice the butterflies EVERYWHERE over the weekend???

We had a great weekend overall and were able to accomplish quite a bit. On Friday afternoon, Allen and I went to Andale for a quick dinner and picked up my cake at Icing On The Cake. There is one time of year when I allow myself to truly indulge in my favorite treat, and Al ordered banana cake in honor of my 28th birthday. If you haven't tried it, you've probably heard me talk about it, but it truly is not to be missed! I try to replicate this at home and it never turns out quite as good. Here's a picture of the beautiful banana cake before Al and I took it down (sadly enough, it was gone by Monday morning).
We are slowly starting to accumulate more gear for the baby and nursery. On Saturday, we attempted to order the crib/changing table, but left with the mission unaccomplished. At this point, we are starting to run out of time, but I think that it all should be taken care of by Tuesday. I actually LOVE the furniture that we picked out and think that it will last for years to come, as the crib is convertible to both a daybed and a full sized bed.

On Saturday night, we had dinner with friends at PF Chang's which was a lot of fun. Pregnancy has definitely made our nights a little bit more low key, and we came home to hang out with the dogs and watch "Forensic Files" (just another wild & crazy Saturday night!). The dogs were a bit amped up, and I love the way Peter looks in the following two photos!

Later this week, I hit week 29 of the pregnancy, and starting in April we have a lot going on. I have been so lucky thus far, but over the past few days my back has been hurting a lot. I am really hoping that the pain starts to subside, and have been trying to stay as active as possible. The bad back pain tends to disrupt my sleep patterns (i.e. - I don't sleep) although I know that will be par for the course once the baby arrives.

Here's a picture from week 28.5-ish

Hope everyone else was able to enjoy the weekend!
