Big News!

Here are a couple of ultrasound pictures from today's appointment...

I am just about 21 weeks along at this point, and according to my doctor and the most recent ultrasound, everything is going really well. We also found out this morning that we will be having a girl! The ultrasound technician said that he is "98% sure", so I guess it's time for me to start shopping!
I am happy to report that I am still feeling great. Work is keeping me very busy and I am still enjoying prenatal yoga classes. Allen and I are working on names and have gotten some pretty crazy suggestions from some of my co-workers!

Ultrasound Pictures!

I finally have gotten around to scanning some of the ultrasound pictures, and it is pretty crazy to see just how much the baby has been growing!

This first ultrasound was done at 8 weeks (photo on the right hand side) and we started referring to it as "Kidney Bean"

Just above, on the left hand side are two pictures from the 13 week ultrasound. It is pretty remarkable to see the features developing!

It's A...Mango?

So, every week, I receive emails which keep me updated as to the development/size of the baby. The emails are really interesting, but perhaps the funniest thing is that they compare the baby's size to a new fruit/vegetable on a weekly basis. At week 19, they have informed me that the baby is now the size of a mango. This is great--I really like mangoes!

Some Pictures...Finally

So, I am planning on posting ultrasound pictures soon--I promise, but need to get to a scanner. In the meantime, I thought it would be fun to share some pictures of the dogs (our current babies).

Today I hit 19 weeks and next week we have the ultrasound where we will be able to find out the baby's sex. Overall, I am still feeling really great and have just been keeping busy with work. Nothing much else to report right now!

Another Week Down

According to babycenter.com, today commences week 18 of pregnancy. This has been a very busy week for me, as we just jumped into recruitment (a crazy time) at work. Despite being a bit tired, I still am feeling great and am happy to report that I received some good news from the doctor yesterday. Looks like the results from my AFP (alpha-feto protein) test came back within the normal range. Between these results and those of my nuchal screen from last month, it looks as though everything is going as it should! :)

In other news... I started prenatal yoga this week. My friend Shelley is due with her first baby at the end of March and she invited me to join her at a local yoga studio that she has been attending throughout her pregnancy. It was a lot of fun and a great experience overall - I am really looking forward to making this a weekly tradition. One of my favorite things about the yoga class is the fact that it is "cool" to have a big belly! I guess I should enjoy this while I can!

17 Weeks...

A number of people have asked me if I would be starting a blog, and since I've had so much fun reading other people's blogs, I decided to go for it! I figured that this would be a good way to keep everyone updated with what is going on and share photos, etc...

So...for those of you who don't know, I am pregnant. Allen and I found out back in October and started telling people around Thanksgiving time. Right now, I am about 17 weeks along and am really feeling great. I had the "typical" nausea and exhaustion during the first trimester, but overall things are going well so far. At this point I have had two ultrasounds and heard the heartbeat for the second time last week at my doctor's office. My next appointment (20 weeks) is on January 28th, and we will have the opportunity to find out the sex if we so choose. While I wanted to be surprised, Allen really wants to know, so I think we will most likely find out. If I can figure out the scanning/posting process, I will try to post an ultrasound photo to share the growth progression of the baby over the past weeks.

The past two weeks were "vacation time" for both Allen and I and we really enjoyed some down time with the dogs. We both went back to work yesterday and are getting ready for 2009 and all the exciting things that it will bring!
